BANGKOK, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn has named Surayud Chulanont as acting Privy Council president in place of Prem Tinsulanonda who died at 99 on Sunday.
In a royal command issued on Tuesday, Surayud was named acting Privy Council president after he had assumed the post of privy councilor for many years.
He assumed the post of privy councilor twice in the time of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and maintained it since the current king practically rose to the throne in late 2016.
