SAN FRANCISCO, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Boeing's subsidiary Tapestry Solutions has obtained a 10-year contract from the U.S. Air Force to provide Weapon Planning Software (WPS) for various weapons and aircraft platforms adopted by the U.S. military and allied forces, Boeing said Tuesday.

With a potential value of 259 million U.S. dollars, the contract covers the development, enhancement and support of the WPS suite, which is a core component of the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) architecture.

The WPS suite supports JMPS requirements involving precision-guided munition planning for different aircraft of the U.S. Air Force units deployed around the world, such as A-10 attackers, B-1, B-2 and B-52 bombers, F-15E, F-16, F-22 and F/A-18 fighters, as well as F-35 stealth fighters, Boeing said.

The JMPS architecture can help deliver the collaborative capabilities of mission-planning and data-sharing between military services, including threats, routes and spots for weapons launches, according to the top U.S. aircraft manufacturer.

The awarded contract "will ensure our customers have the critical data they need to get from mission plan to execution more efficiently with the use of faster, more powerful and intuitive weapons planning capabilities," said Debbie Churchill, vice president of Mission Products and Services at Tapestry Solutions.

The Boeing subsidiary has decades of experience in developing mission planning software solutions for multiple military aircraft of the U.S. Air Force, its Tomahawk missiles and Boeing's Joint Direct Attack Munition program.
