WINDHOEK, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The Namibian government on Tuesday received a donation of 17,071 U.S. dollars towards drought relief from the Swakop Uranium Mine.
Swakop Uranium is a private company registered in Namibia and is the owner of the Chinese Husab Uranium Mine which is located near Swakopmund on the west coast of Namibia.
Swakop Uranium's Chief Executive Officer Cai Yusheng and the Chief of Operation Officer Angula Kalili handed over the donation to Namibia's Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, at an event in Windhoek.
Kuugongelwa-Amadhila commended Swakop Uranium for supporting the government efforts and for its corporate social responsibility.
Earlier this month Namibia's president Hage Geingob declared a national state of emergency with respect to a drought that has hit several areas in the southern African nation and called for international support to supplement the country's own response efforts.
