DAR ES SALAAM, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian President John Magufuli is expected to meet the nation's leading businessmen on Friday to exchange views on challenges facing them in doing business, a senior official said on Monday.

An invitation to the meeting was given to the businessmen by Selemani Jafo, the Minister of State in the President's Office responsible for Regional Administration and Local Government.

"Five leading businessmen from each district in the country have been invited by the President to the meeting where they will have an opportunity to discuss various issues," Jafo said in a statement.

Jafo said the meeting will be held at State House in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam, and urged regional commissioners to submit names of five businessmen from each district that will attend the meeting.

Godfrey Simbeye, the Executive Director of the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation, thanked the president for organizing the meeting with businessmen saying it was a good direction.

"Although we have not been given the agenda of the meeting, we hope that the head of state is interested to hear challenges facing businessmen in the country and look for solutions," Simbeye said in an interview with Xinhua.

Simbeye said President Magufuli held a meeting with stakeholders in January in the minerals sector who told him about challenges facing them.

"The President resolved most of the challenges facing businessmen in the mineral sector," said Simbeye.
