BANGKOK, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Palang Pracharath Party has joined hands with five other parties to set up a coalition with current Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha as head of its government.

The Palang Pracharath Party and the five other parties, namely the Action Coalition for Thailand Party, Thai Local Power Party, Chartpattana Party and Thai Forest Land Reclamation Party, People Reform Party, met at a Bangkok hotel on Tuesday to set up the coalition with Prayut as head of its government.

Palang Pracharath party leader Uttama Savanayana announced that the Palang Pracharath-led coalition would not become a minority government but a "stable" one and that the policies of respective parties were exchanged and discussed during Tuesday's meeting.

He said the six parties have obviously manifested common standpoints toward the setting up of the pro-Prayut coalition.

The Palang Pracharath leader said his party and partners have expected to see 250-plus MPs vote for Prayut as prime minister in Wednesday's joint House/Senate meeting. He referred to half the total number of MPs or 500.

Uttama said the allocation of cabinet portfolios among coalition partners would be trouble-free and finally agreeable.
