Zambia investment agency calls for extensive marketing of tourism in China

KITWE, Zambia, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's investment agency on Wednesday called for extensive marketing of the southern African nation's tourism to China as there is a huge potential market.

Matongo Matamwandi, Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) director for investment said there is an increase in the number of Chinese nationals visiting tourism sites in the country which calls for marketing of Zambia as a tourist destination.

Matongo said looking at the increased number of Chinese nationals visiting the sites like the Victoria Falls, there is need for extensive marketing of Zambia's tourism sector.

He said the country had a lot of investment opportunities which the agency is currently promoting and trying to help those that want to take advantage of the opportunities.

Matongo also called on locals to take advantage of the farm blocks that were created in each province and engage in agriculture activities.

The Zambian government had set aside 100,000 hectares of land in each province with the agenda of taking economic development to all corners of the country.

He said that the country's environment was enabling in terms of political and macro-economic stability, and welcomed investors to invest in the agriculture sector in Zambia to enhance food production through technology.
