BANGKOK, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Thai Narcotics Suppression Bureau said on Friday that six major cases have been registered about narcotic crackdown, resulting in the arrest of 10 suspects and the seizure of 1.73 million speed pills, 300 kg of marijuana, 27.9 kg of ketamine and related assets worth 249 million baht ( US 7,957,542 dollars).

Elaborating on the actions, Pol. Lt. Gen. Chinapat Sarasin, commissioner of the bureau, said some suspects belonged to a racket called Pan Nam Pen Ngern which smuggled drugs from Laos, sold drugs in the Northeast and greater Bangkok and also smuggled from the south to other countries.

The gang ran a drinking water business as its front. It sold drinking water in the northeast and also exported the bottled water to Laos. Gang members then laundered the income rendered from drug trafficking in constructing a resort hotel in Kalasin province (North-East Thailand) and a drinking water plant in Laos.
