Agricultural land price, rent in Bulgaria rise in 2018

SOFIA, June 12 (Xinhua) -- The average agricultural land price and rent in Bulgaria last year rose by 7.9 percent and 4.3 percent respectively, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said here on Wednesday.

The average price per decare (0.2471 acres) of agricultural land reached 941 BGN (544 U.S. dollars), the NSI said.

In comparison with the previous year, a 12.6-percent increase was reported in the price of arable land, while the price of permanent grassland decreased by 16.8 percent, the NSI said.

Traditionally, the highest land price was reported in the northeast region, 1,345 BNG per decare, while the price in the southwest region remained the lowest, 198 BNG, NSI data showed.

Meanwhile, the average rent price per decare for hired or leased agricultural land in 2018 reached 48 BGN.

Compared with the previous year, the increase in the price of arable land was 6.4 percent, while no change was observed in the rent price of permanent grassland, the NSI added. (1 U.S. dollar = 1.73 BGN)
