ISLAMABAD, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced to form a high-power commission comprising of officials from the country's intelligence agencies to probe corruption and money laundering, local reports said on Wednesday.
The commission will be supervised by the prime minister himself, and it will be assigned to investigate the consumption of the foreign loans acquired by former high officials and leaders of the country.
The prime minister addressed the country mid night and vowed that "I will not spare these looters and plunderers even if I have to lose my life. I will not spare anyone who harmed my nation."
The country's National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recently tightened the noose against former officials and arrested former President Asif Ali Zardari, and a leader of opposition in the country's powerful Punjab Assembly, Hamza Shahbaz, in less than a week's time on corruption charges.
Later in a tweet on Wednesday, the prime minister said that the "money launderers" now want to save themselves from accountability by saying that their arrest is a threat to the democratic setup of Pakistan.
Fight against corruption is one of the major slogans of Khan's ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party.
