WINDHOEK, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Namibian cricket player Christoffel Viljoen has been suspended for four matches, according to a statement from the International Cricket Council Wednesday.
The ICC said Viljoen accepted that he was in breach of the ICC's Anti-Racism Code for participants following two incidents that occurred during an ICC T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier match in May.
"Viljoen made inappropriate comments during the match against Uganda in Kampala on May 21 that were considered to be in Breach of the ICC's Anti-Racism Code, which resulted in him being charged with offenses under 2.1.1," the statement read.
According to ICC, Viljoen accepted the misconduct and has been handed four suspension points for each offense, which will run concurrently and result in him missing Namibia's next four matches.
Meanwhile, Viljoen will also have to undergo an education program to promote a better understanding and awareness of issues directly relevant to the offense that he has committed, as per Article 7.3 of the Anti-Racism Code, the ICC said.
