WASHINGTON, June 15 (Xinhua) -- A nine-alarm fire is raging in a community south of downtown Boston, U.S. state of Massachusetts, fire authorities said Saturday afternoon.
The Boston Fire Department said on Twitter that it responded at 4:45 p.m. local time to a building fire in Mattapan, a neighborhood in Boston, and that the fire, which it said occurred in a vacant building, has spread to several adjacent buildings.
Pictures released on the social media platform show that heavy smoke is coming out of the buildings, with at least two of the roofs on fire, while firefighters are using water cannons to address the situation.
The fire is causing traffic delays in the area, according to a tweet by the Boston Police Department.
No injuries have been reported, it added.
