HANOI, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Petrol cans used to run power generators at a construction site in Vietnam's central Khanh Hoa province were on fire and exploded on Friday, killing two local workers and injuring eight others, according to Vietnam News Agency.

The incident took place near tents of workers at a golf course under construction in Cam Ranh city in the early morning when they were sleeping, killing two, injuring six seriously and hurting two slightly.

A total of 1,581 fires and explosions broke out in Vietnam in the first five months of this year, killing 55 people and injuring 83 others, the country's Fire Prevention and Fight Department said.
