SINGAPORE, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.45 percent, or 14.64 points, to close at 3,207.99.
A total of 1.2 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 969.42 million Singapore dollars (about 707.09 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 225 to 159.
The STI index went up 0.06 percent, or 1.97 points, to close at 3,222.63 last Friday.
