LOS ANGELES, June 17 (Xinhua) -- A wildfire in the U.S. state of Arizona has spread to 37, 765 acres (152.8 square km) in 10 days with only 6-percent containment so far, authorities said Monday.

The fire, dubbed Woodbury Fire, is still burning in Tonto National Forest, 90 km northeast of Phoenix, capital of the state, according to the latest information update of inciWeb, an interstate incident information system.

A crew of 747 are fighting the human-caused blaze ignited on June 8, said the inciWeb, adding that poor weather condition, tall grass and brush made it difficult for firefighters to fully contain the fire by the end of this month.

Even though smoke plumes could be seen kilometers away but nearby communities still weren't in danger, Pamela Mathis with the fire's management team was quoted by the local KTAR News 92.3 FM as saying.
