VIENNA, June 19 (Xinhua) -- An arsonist has set fire to several government buildings in the inner-city area of the Austrian city of Graz on Wednesday morning causing a large-scale police response, though no injuries have been reported as yet.

According to local media reports the perpetrator was a 45-year-old Iraqi, who attempted to set fire to the Graz city hall, a district authority building, and a district court.

The first fire had reportedly begun in the court building, where the man walked in, poured flammable liquid on the ground, and set it alight.

While the blaze partly reached the first floor it only caused material damage, with no persons injured.

The man then made his way to the other two buildings, also attempting to set them alight.

Staff at the city hall were able to partially extinguish the blaze themselves, while about 150 people had to be evacuated from the district authority building.

Fire authorities and police were at the respective sites within a short time.

The arsonist was eventually apprehended at the Graz Central Station, where he was in the act of attempting to start a fourth fire.

The motive for the attacks are currently unclear, though authorities do not believe a terrorism link is present, but rather a personal conflict with authorities.
