KHARTOUM, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The Deputy Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC) Mohamed Hamdan Daqlu on Thursday said resolution of the standing political crisis in Sudan is represented in conduction of free and fair elections.

"The ballot boxes will decide and our role as a military council is to monitor and guarantee conduction of free and fair elections," said Daqlu when addressing women's rally in the capital Khartoum.

The trial of figures of the former regime would begin as of today, he added.

The TMC deputy chairman also disclosed that the investigation committees have identified those who caused the incidents of dispersing the sit-in area in front of the army's headquarters on June 3.

The TMC is tasked with running the country's affairs after the ousting of former president Omar al-Bashir in April 11.
