SYDNEY, June 21 (Xinhua) -- A 29-year-old father of two faced court in Australia on Friday, with police alleging the man planned to join a hostile fighting force overseas.

Making the arrest on Thursday morning, an elite joint counter-terrorism team comprised of Victoria State Police, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation, swooped in on Khaled Temssah at a Melbourne car dealership where he was employed.

Although authorities have not released any details about where the suspect planned to travel, or what terror group he may have been in contact with, the AFP said in a public statement, "It will be alleged the man arrested was involved in undertaking preparations to travel overseas to engage in hostile activities."

Local media reported that in the past Temssah had made numerous social media posts relating to terrorism-related conflicts in the Middle East.

The magistrate ruled for Temssah to be remanded in custody, with the case listed for a committal mention hearing in September.

"Victoria Police and the Australian Federal Police would like to reassure the community. There is no ongoing threat against the Victorian community as a result of this investigation," the AFP said.

"The operation is ongoing. However, at this time police do not anticipate further arrests."

"Furthermore, the arrest is not linked to any previous operational activity."
