TUNIS, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi was admitted to a military hospital for medical examinations following an indisposition on Friday, according to the Tunisian presidency.

"President Essebsi went to the military hospital in the capital Tunis for medical examinations over a sudden indisposition diagnosed as not dangerous," said Presidential Advisor Firas Kafrach, during a speech broadcast by the Tunisian private channel, Al-Hiwar Ettounsi.

Kafrach stressed that the health situation of the president remains "stable."

Essebsi was born in November 1926 and took over the Tunisian presidency after winning the 2014 presidential elections.
