SARAJEVO, June 21 (Xinhua) -- The European Union (EU) allocates 500,000 euros (568,314 U.S. dollars) for the improvement of public administration efficiency and transparency through training of civil servants in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the EU delegation in BiH said Friday in a statement.

The Head of EU Delegation in BiH Lars-Gunnar Wigemark launched a new training program, aiming to give high-level education for civil servants in the areas of EU law, EU integration and anti-corruption.

Wigemark estimated that up to 2,000 civil servants "will be trained and experienced enough to bring the country closer to the EU".

On May 29, the European Commission's Opinion on BiH's EU membership application claimed that public administration reform and the fight against corruption go hand in hand.
