SEOUL, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Sentiment among South Korean consumers over economic situations worsened for two straight months on the continued fall in export, central bank data showed Tuesday.

The composite consumer sentiment index (CCSI) came in at 97.5 in June, down 0.4 points from the previous month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

It continued to fall for the second consecutive month, after rising for five months through April.

The government unveiled a set of measures to boost household income, especially among the low-income bracket, but the continued fall in export negatively affected consumer confidence.

Export, which accounts for about half of the export-driven economy, kept sliding for six straight months to May on the downturn in the business cycle of the global semiconductor industry and the global trade dispute.

The CSI for interest rate tumbled 9 points this month as the U.S. Federal Reserve indicated a policy rate cut in the near future, but the CSI for home price gained 4 points on higher housing price in a part of the capital Seoul.

Inflation expectations, which gauge outlook among consumers for headline inflation for the next 12 months, stood at 2.1 percent this month, down 0.1 percentage point from a month earlier.
