ANTANANARIVO, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Madagascar celebrated on Wednesday its 59th anniversary of independence with the theme of "I am Malagasy, I love my homeland, I love the development"
Madagascar's President Andry Rajoelina, and his counterpart of Rwanda Paul Kagame together with almost 40,000 guests and citizens participated in the celebration which lasted three hours at Mahamasina Stadium, one of the main stadiums of Madagascar.
A military parade was also held as 3,000 members of the armed forces came in several arrays.
Madagascar got its independence from France on June 26, 1960, after being colonized for 64 years.
