BEIJING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte is set to pay a working visit to China on Thursday at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
The following is a profile of Rutte.
Born in 1967 in The Hague, Rutte obtained a master's degree in history from Leiden University in 1992.
He served as state secretary for social affairs and employment from 2002 to 2004.
In 2004, he took the post of state secretary for education, culture and science.
In 2006, he was elected as the leader of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), and served as the parliamentary leader of the VVD in the Second Chamber, or the House of Representatives.
Rutte became Dutch prime minister in 2010, and was re-elected twice in 2012 and 2017.
Rutte is single and has no children.
