MADRID, June 27 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish economy is expected to moderate its growth in the second quarter of 2019, according to the Bank of Spain (BOE) in its quarterly report published on Thursday.

The central bank believed Spain will see a 0.6-percent growth in GDP between April and June, compared to the 0.7-percent growth registered in the first three months of the year.

This growth will be promoted by internal demand, household spending and investment in the construction sector, which will offset weak external demand and a fall in exports.

"The Spanish economy is showing notable resistance in the face of an external environment marked by uncertainty and the weakness of global commerce."

"In contrast with the relative weakness in the 'Euro-zone', the Spanish economy maintains more strength," the Bank of Spain said in its report.

Spain's economy grew faster than other nations in the European Monetary Union in the first quarter, while in the second quarter its slowdown will be less marked than its European neighbors with the BOE expecting Spain's economy to continue to expand throughout the year.

"The key scenario of the most recent projections of the Bank of Spain contemplates a prolongation of the expansive phase," commented the central bank.

It warned this relatively positive situation "is subject to significant downside risks", provoked by external issues such as the trade dispute between the U.S. and China or the Brexit.
