TUNIS, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Security forces in the Tunisian southeastern city of Sfax arrested on Monday two Belarusians for suspected espionage, Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) reported.
Mourad Turki, spokesman for the court of Sfax, told reporters that the two were arrested upon a warrant from the public prosecutor's office.
Preliminary investigations started when one of the suspects arrived at a hotel in Sfax where the staff suspected his "eccentric behavior."
"The two men declined the entry of anyone into their rooms even the routine room service," TAP quoted a hotel worker as saying.
Security personnel later raided the hotel room and seized computers, mobile phones, phone chips and sophisticated electronic equipment.
