Youth Art Festival promotes Chinese culture in Auckland NZ

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, July 3 (Xinhua) -- 2019 New Zealand China Youth Art Festival that features a cultural fusion of Music and dance showcased Chinese traditional culture and performance to New Zealand audience on Tuesday night.

The Youth Art Festival was presented by Shanghai Children's Palace of the China Welfare Institute (CWI). A Mixed performance of Chinese Peking Opera, Paper cutting, calligraphy, cucurbit flute, Chinese musical instrument Erhu, Kung Fu and Tai Chi was showcased during the three-hour event, which was applauded by over 500 Auckland local audiences.

Local young artists also participated in the Youth Art Festival including those from Chelsea Primary School, Auckland Dance Academy, and Diocesan School for Girls.

The 2019 New Zealand China Youth Art Festival is aimed to promote the mutual understanding and friendship between young people from China and New Zealand, and to facilitate cultural and artistic exchanges and dialogues between the two countries.

Auckland City councilor Paul Young said he enjoyed the show, which brought a colorful mixture of culture and performance that were presented by young people from both China and New Zealand, "this is the true cultural fusion", said Young.
