MANILA, July 4 (Xinhua) -- A Filipino man died and seven others injured when a commuter van tumbled down a curve along a highway in Culianan, a village in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, local police said on Thursday.
Police said the van was traveling at high speed before the accident that happened early Thursday. Slippery road likely factor in the crash, police said, adding that it has been raining in the region for days.
The injured victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment, while the driver of the van was taken into custody, police said.
Zamboanga is a port city on the southern Philippine island of Mindanao.
