GHAZNI, Afghanistan, July 6 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed and 20 others sustained injuries as a mine planted by militants on a mosque in the eastern Ghazni province went off Friday, provincial government spokesman Aref Nuri said Saturday.

The bloody blast, according to the official, happened Friday evening when the worshipers were inside a mosque in provincial capital Ghazni city, killing two persons on the spot and injuring 20 others, some in critical condition.

All the victims were civilians, the official further said.

Although, no group has claimed responsibility, the locals don't rule out the involvement of the militant groups, saying the Taliban or the rival Islamic State outfit "could be behind the terrorist attack as both the groups had claimed responsibility for such bombings in mosques in the past.
