ZAGREB, July 8 (Xinhua) -- A big storm has hit many parts of Croatia since Sunday evening and caused injuries and property damages.

The stormy weather that lasted until Monday morning mostly affected the city of Zadar in Dalmatia and the northern part of the Adriatic.

Hailstones as big as walnuts and heavy rain have caused great material damage, hurting many people as well. Wind speed reached more than 100 kilometers per hour, and in Zadar, as a result of the weather, many cars were damaged.

Rescue workers of Zadar have saved more than 50 people, mostly foreign tourists, who were stranded on the surrounding islands because of the bad weather.

In Vukovar, due to the stormy weather and uprooted trees, traffic on some roads was stopped, and two elder women were injured.

In the village of Topola in Slavonia, the wind damaged the power grid, leaving many villages without electricity.

Meteorologists have predicted for the following days the possibility of severe storms in the country, especially in the coastal regions, where strong wind "bora" will blow.
