ANKARA, July 9 (Xinhua) -- A total of two Turkish soldiers were killed and another was injured in an attack by Kurdish militants in the southeastern province of Hakkari, the Defense Ministry said Tuesday.

The attack was launched by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants from a long distance on a military vehicle, a ministry statement said.

Hakkari borders northern Iraq, where the PKK headquarters is located in the Qandil Mountains for training, logistics and regrouping.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the EU, resumed its 30-year armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015 after a brief reconciliation period.
