8 killed in car accident in southern Azerbaijan

BAKU, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were killed and two severely injured in a collision of a minivan and a truck in the southern Azerbaijani district of Masalli on Tuesday, the country's emergency authorities said.

Rescuers pulled out eight bodies, including that of two women and three schoolchildren from the deformed minivan. The killed passengers were identified as members of three families who were on their way back home after a wedding party.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident, with the driver of the minivan who suffered minor injuries being questioned by police.
