TOKYO, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks fell slightly Wednesday morning following a weak lead from Wall Street overnight, with investors in a cautious mood ahead of U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's congressional testimony.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 35.77 points, or 0.17 percent, from Tuesday to 21,529.38.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 8.21 points, or 0.52 percent, at 1,566.68.
Iron and steel, pulp and paper, and chemical-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
