ULAN BATOR, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia on Wednesday celebrated "Day to Honor National Flag," a festival aimed at strengthening national unity and fostering patriotism among the country's citizens.

"The national flag has been a symbol of military power, people's unity, and state sovereignty for our Mongolians since long ago. The spirit of the day is to strengthen national unity, integrity, and patriotism," Mongolian President Khaltmaa Battulga said at the ceremony.

Also attending the celebration were Prime Minister Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, Parliament Speaker Gombojav Zandanshatar, cabinet ministers, military veterans, and thousands of citizens.

The celebrations featured a military parade involving more than 2,000 military personnel.

The "Day to Honor National Flag" has been celebrated every year since 2009 on July 10, one day before the traditional Naddam festival kicks off.
