TOKYO, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares were mixed Friday morning, as investors both bought on the back of the Dow Jones Industrial Average's rally and sold for profits ahead of a three-day weekend.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 9.60 points, or 0.04 percent, from Thursday to 21,653.13.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 2.52 points, or 0.16 percent, at 1,576.11.
Retail, and farm and fishery issues led notable gainers, while mining, and pulp and paper-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
