13 H1N1 deaths reported in Myanmar within 4 days

YANGON, July 17 (Xinhua) -- A total of 13 more deaths by A(H1N1) pdm 09 influenza have been reported in Myanmar over the past four days, according to the figures released by the public health department under the ministry of health and sports Wednesday.

The total death toll have risen to 56 as of Tuesday when 43 deaths were previously reported on July 13.

From January 1 to July 16 this year, Yangon region registered highest mortality rate of H1N1 seasonal influenza with 43 deaths.

In the meantime, four deaths were registered in Ayeyarwaddy region while two each in Bago and Sagaing regions, one in Magway region, three in Mon state and one in Kachin state.

During the period, 243 people were confirmed to have been affected by the influenza virus across the country and 49 percent of them aged between 15 and 65 years old, the department's figures showed.

The seasonal influenza virus was detected in July, 2017, claiming at least 38 lives and 408 people were infected across Myanmar.
