MANILA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tech giant Huawei announced the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) to help talents get access to Huawei’s high-end information and communications technology.

The Chinese leading information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider signed the MoA on Wednesday afternoon for the donation of training, ICT laboratory equipment, ICT courses and open lab to the PUP.

Huawei and the PUP will also collaborate on the development of the digital academy, ICT Research Projects and they will also conduct a joint study to improve the Internet connectivity in the PUP main campus and its branches.

Huawei Digital Academy is a partnership between Huawei and universities around the world. Through the partnership, the academy delivers Huawei ICT technologies training, encourages students to get the certification, and develops local talents with practical skills for the ICT industry and community.

“This is Huawei’s advocacy and contribution to local talent development in the Philippines and giving Philippine students the opportunity to gain ICT career certifications based on industry-leading technologies and global practices,” said Li Guodong, head of Huawei Philippines Delivery and Service.

“This is one way we can put into action our mission and vision of bringing digital to every person, home and organization for a better connected and intelligent world,” he said.

Witnessed the signing of the MoA, President of the PUP Emanuel de Guzman expressed his gratitude, saying that the partnership definitely provides students and faculty members with a chance to develop their capabilities in the technology realm.

“We are happy to build this relationship with Huawei. And I do believe it will give us mutual benefits between our talented students and Huawei’s world-leading technologies,” he said.

During the ceremony, the counselor of Chinese embassy Xie Yonghui also made a presentation to introduce China’s development in recent 40 years to students, encouraging them to study hard to pursue an ideal career and life.

The PUP, founded in 1904, is a public and non-profit educational institution in the Philippines. It is one of the country's highly competent institutions which has more than 20 campuses, branches and extensions serving more than 70,000 students across the country.
