Uganda to send 77 athletes to 12th All Africa Games

KAMPALA, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Uganda will send 77 athletes to the 12th All Africa Games scheduled for August 19-31 in Morocco, a top official said here on Monday.

Patrick Ogwel, the general Secretary of the National Council of Sports, told Xinhua that 77 athletes will travel to Morocco.

The contingent, which will be spearheaded by double Commonwealth Games gold medalist Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei, will compete in field and track, rowing, badminton, basketball 3x3, boxing, cycling, chess and weightlifting.

The Games in Morocco will take place in the cities of Rabat, Sale, Temara, Casablanca, Benslimane and El Jadida.

The 12th edition of the Games will also act as a qualification step for some disciplines to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
