SANTIAGO, July 29 (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed and more than 40 injured on Monday when their doubledecker bus overturned on a highway in central Chile's O'Higgins region.
"We have more than 40 injured in various condition, who were taken to hospitals in the O'Higgins region. The six most seriously injured are being treated at the hospital in Rancagua," regional intendant Manuel Masferrer said.
The bus departed the capital Santiago at dawn on Monday on its way to the southern city of Temuco, some 680 kilometers away, he said.
Among the deceased were five women and a man.
Police are looking into the causes of the crash, including slippery roads due to rains Sunday night, local media said.
