BAGHDAD, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Germany's new ambassador to Iraq Ole Diehl on Tuesday presented his credentials to Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hakim.
According to a statement by the foreign ministry, al-Hakim received Diehl's credentials and discussed with him the means to promote bilateral relations in a way that achieves the aspirations of the two peoples.
During the meeting, al-Hakim lauded Germany's supporting stances for Iraq, especially its assistance in the war against the Islamic State (IS) group, the statement said.
He called on German companies to invest in Iraq, especially in the projects of the infrastructure reconstruction.
Germany is part of a U.S.-led international coalition tasked with helping the Iraqi security forces in the fight against the extremist IS militants.
The international coalition has carried out thousands of airstrikes against IS positions in Iraq and Syria and provided military equipment and training to Iraqi forces.
