BANGKOK, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Thai police on Friday afternoon confirmed that the five bomb blasts in Bangkok were all linked.

Police Lieutenat General Sutthipong Wongpin, commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau told the media that the sporadic bombs that exploded in various key areas in Bangkok on Friday were all "linked," but he did not give more detail.

Huge sounds were heard at a government complex on Friday morning while a bomb squad was seen on TV disposing an explosive device outside the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters in Bangkok.

Local media reported that bomb-like sounds came from the bushes from a government complex building at 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Friday when civil servants were entering their offices.

There were no reports of injury at the government complex site.

Witnesses said on TV that the first explosion occurred in a flower pot at the entrance of the Government Complex Building B, while the second was heard from a flower pot opposite the Election Commission office.

Witnesses said the third one occurred in front of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters.

Meanwhile the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team discovered the fourth bomb while clearing the area.

Around 9:00 a.m. local time in the Bangkok business area, bomb blasts took place outside the Maha Nakhon skyscraper and in the bushes under the Chong Nonsi sky train station.

The police have cordoned off the site and the bomb disposal unit destroyed a suspicious object with high pressure water.

Thai Police arrested two suspects for alleged involvement in placing fake bombs in front of the Royal Thai Police Headquarters on Thursday. CCTV cameras captured their image at the Siam sky train station and Siam Paragon shopping complex before they went to the Mor Chit bus terminal.
