SOFIA, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian authorities has shut down Tuesday more than 40 websites for illegal sharing of movies and arrested one suspect, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the data collected so far, the suspect, a 44-year-old man from Sofia, has created and administered the websites, through which he distributed the movies without having the copyrights, the statement said.
Initially, the man posted the movies on some of websites he controlled, the statement said. After reaching a certain number of visitors and generated traffic "for which he received payment from Google," he uploaded the same movies and shared them on other of his domains, and received money again.
Most of the websites were hosted by one of the largest international cloud service providers in the United States. For this reason, the suspect thought he was anonymous, the statement said.
The authorities have gathered the necessary electronic evidence, the statement added.
