VALLETTA, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- A public consultation process was launched on an ethical artificial intelligence framework in Malta.
Various stakeholders have one month to participate in the consultation process on an Artificial Intelligence (AI) framework document which was published on Friday.
The legal and ethical group within Malta's AI Taskforce was commissioned to draft the document.
The Malta Ethical AI Framework document sets out the guiding principles and requirements which will serve as the basis of AI-related projects in Malta.
The framework was developed on four objectives -- a human-centric approach; respecting for all the applicable laws and regulations, human rights and democratic values; maximizing the benefits of AI systems while preventing and minimizing their risks; and being aligned with emerging international standards and norms around AI ethics.
Malta's Parliamentary Secretary for Digital Economy Silvio Schembri urged the public to participate in the public consultation, adding that by having such solid foundations would eventually lead to the certification of AI related projects.
The government said that the document was consistent with emerging international standards.
