Uganda's Proline FC stop Malawi's Masters Security in CAF Confederation Cup

KAMPALA, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's Proline FC defeated Malawi's Masters Security FC 3-0 in the first leg of the 2019 CAF Confederations Cup on Saturday.

Ivan Bogere scored one goal in the first half and two in the second half to hand the home side an advantage at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

Amadu Makawa and Mphatso Dzongololo also came close to scoring for the visiting Malawian side, but failed to find the target.

Proline FC who are playing in the tournament for the first time.

"I am very excited that on our first time I have scored three goals and been handed the ball today. We need to continue working hard ahead of the return leg in Malawi," Proline FC's goalscorer Bogere told Xinhua after the game.

Proline FC's head coach Shafiq Bisaso said he was happy with the display of his boys. "It was a good performance since we also kept a clean sheet."

Abbas Ishmail Makawa, the Malawi's Masters Security FC coach said he was disappointed because his players failed to take their chances.

"Football is about goals and we failed to utilize the chances we created today. We need to work hard for the return leg," added Makawa.

The return leg match will be played on August 24.
