KIEV, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- The volume of transactions with electronic money in Ukraine in the first half of 2019 increased more than 60 percent compared to the same period of last year and amounted to 4.9 billion Ukrainian hryvnias (195.3 million U.S. dollars), the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) reported on Monday.
According to the bank's report, the volume of electronic money issued by banks in the period more than doubled and reached 85.4 million Ukrainian hryvnias (3.4 million U.S. dollars), while the number of electronic wallets increased more than 20 percent and reached 67.9 million.
According to the NBU, electronic money transaction volume in Ukraine last year grew 2.5 times in comparison with that in 2017, and went to 7.2 billion Ukrainian hryvnias (287 million U.S. dollars).
