SUVA, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Samoa police will charge two men for allegedly plotting to assassinate Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi.

According to Samoa Observer on Thursday, the two suspects, namely Malele Atofu Paulo, also known as King Faipopo, and Lema'i Faioso Sione, are now in police custody.

Confirming this on Thursday, Samoa's Acting Police Commissioner Papalii Monalisa Keti said that Attorney General Lemalu Herman Retzlaff is reviewing the file before police carries out the normal procedure for filing the charges.

Samoan police have released a few details about the alleged plot, which came to light two days ago, saying that Malele was arrested on Thursday at the court house in Samoa after he appeared on earlier charges of making false accusations and defaming the prime minister.
