BERLIN, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Paco Alcacer's brace secured Borussia Dortmud a 5-1 comeback victory over Augsburg at the first round in Bundesliga on Saturday.

The "BVB" restored parity in the early stages before Lucien Favre's men turned up to cruise to a 5-1 win with four second-half goals.

Augsburg grabbed a fairy-tale start on the road as a square pass form Mads Pedersen allowed Florian Niederlechner to open the scoring from inside the box with just one minute into the match.

Dortmund remained unimpressed and responded with their next attack two minutes later after Marco Reus' build-up play and assist found Paco Alcacer, who made no mistake to slot home the equalizer from sharp angle.

The hosts continued on the front foot and came to further chances as Julian Weigl's long-range hammer called Augsburg goalkeeper Tomas Koubek into action in the 10th minute before Mats Hummels headed over the target moments later.

However, despite Dortmund's dominance they had to wait until the restart before their efforts paid off as Axel Witsel's cross to the far post was processed by Jadon Sancho, who made it 2-1 on the scoreboards from five meters in the 51st minute.

Dortmund gained momentum and capitalized on a fumble from Augsburg goalie Koubek as Marco Reus tapped home the 3-1 lead into the open goal from 10 meters with 57 minutes played.

Augsburg were unable to put up resistance whereas the hosts pressed relentlessly to extend their lead. Only two minutes later, Alcacer had all time and space to place Sancho's square pass into the top-right angle from the edge of the box.

Last year's runner up were still not done with the scoring as substitute and new arrival Julian Brandt got his name on the scoreboards as well after volleying home Witsel's pin-point cross to the far post in the closing period.

With the result, Dortmund ensured a perfect start into the season as they capture the top spot for the moment.

Elsewhere, Werder Bremen started with a loss into the season as Fortuna Dusseldorf snatched a 3-1 away victory.

Freiburg flabbergasted Mainz 3-0 as they scored three goals in the last eight minutes of the game.

Kevin Volland's winner helped Bayer Leverkusen to overpower newly promoted Paderborn 3-2 on home soil and Wolfsburg edged Cologne 2-1.
