COPENHAGEN, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Following the recent release of poor financial results, a possible sale of Danish electronics company Bang & Olufsen may become an option once again.
Chairman of the Board Ole Andersen, speaking to Danish financial daily Boersen on Thursday, has announced that the company is open to talks.
"If we were to get an inquiry, we would listen," said Andersen. "But, of course, it will have to be discussed with the shareholders. We are committed to that. "
Seeking a potential buyer has become more relevant for Bang & Olufsen following a run of poor results in recent years.
"The lights start to blink a little. We are in a situation where we need a contingency plan, and of course, we have that," added Andersen.
The company did make a modest profit of 19 million Danish kroner (2.82 million U.S. dollars) for the past fiscal year, but this has mostly been attributed to the Beoplay business which has become a success.
In contrast, the companies classic audio-video business has experienced increased pressure in the market to remain profitable.
Bang & Olufsen, founded in 1925, exports worldwide, using a recognizable logo that adorns high-end electrical products including music systems, speakers, and televisions. Enditem
