SOFIA, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian law enforcement officers have seized nearly five kilograms of heroin and one kg of cocaine and arrested four suspects, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Friday.

Three of the suspects, a 48-year-old Turkish citizen and two local residents aged 24 and 37 respectively, were arrested while conducting a drug deal in the second largest Bulgarian city Plovdiv on Monday, and police found 257.6 grams of heroin and 0.4 grams of cocaine, the statement said.

The investigation revealed that the foreigner has bought the drugs from a 63-year-old resident of the village of Gergini near Gabrovo, some 150 km north of Plovdiv, the statement said.

The police rushed to the village and managed to arrest the suspect in front of his house just when he was leaving by car, the statement said.

In the car, the police found a pack with about one kg of cocaine. In addition, 4.7 kg of heroin split into 18 packets was found buried in the yard, it said.

The 63-year-old confessed to investigators that he was preparing to get rid of all the evidence, the statement said.

According to investigators, he has served a sentence of imprisonment in Turkey in the recent past after being caught there with one kg of heroin in 2014, the statement added.
