BUDAPEST, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Every Hungarian pensioner will receive 9,000-forint (30.3-U.S.- dollar) vouchers to help them pay utility bills by the end of September, the Hungarian government said Friday in a statement.

"All retirees will receive 9,000-forint vouchers to pay for utilities before Sept. 30," it said.

Since the Hungarian economy was performing better than expected, the results of this growth should be shared by the older generation, it said.

The extra disbursement will be sent in three 3,000-forint vouchers and may be used until March 31 to pay for gas and electricity bills.

The government said that it would also be paying a pension bonus and a pension supplement later this year. The amount has not yet been divulged.

Hungarian civil servants who have been in public employment for at least 3 months between Jan. 1 and July 31 -- and continue to do so since Aug. 1 -- will receive a one-time net payment of 54,000 forints.

The announcement came just one day before the official start of the electoral campaign for local elections on Oct. 13.
