WASHINGTON, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Representative Sean Duffy on Monday announced resignation from his Wisconsin congressional seat, citing the need to care for his sick child.
The Republican lawmaker said on social media that his baby was diagnosed with "complications, including a heart condition," referring to his ninth child.
"I have decided that this is the right time for me to take a break from public service in order to be the support my wife, baby and family need right now," Duffy said.
Duffy, a steadfast supporter of President Donald Trump, planned to step down on Sept. 23.
He is also a member of the House Financial Services Committee.
