New York, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Second seeded Rafael Nadal saved a game to reach the US Open third round after his scheduled second-round opponent Thanasi Kokkinakis is unable to play for injury.
Tournament organizers said the Australian wildcard entry Kokkinakis pulled out of the Thursday evening tie with a right shoulder problem.
The three-time champion will next play Saturday against 32nd-seeded fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco or South Korea's Chung Hyeon.
